I'm not saying I'm a good luck charm for the Timberwolves....

In fact there are 2 dreadful post-KG seasons where I was a season ticket holder to prove that I'm not, BUT.... The last 3 Wolves games I've attended now: 1. KAT sets Wolves franchise record for points in a game. 2. Only playoff game they've won since 2004. 3. Derrick Rose drops 50 on Utah.

The media turns on Kirk Cousins(and Mike Zimmer too)

Maybe it's just the stuff I've been exposed to since the Vikings loss to the Saints, but it appears to me that the media both on a national level as well as locally, has chosen that game as their final excuse to unleash the hounds on Kirk Cousins, and to a lesser extent Mike Zimmer. The Zimmer stuff is not entirely new. Patrick Reusse wrote a very personal hit piece on him following the 2016 collapse, and plenty of others have taken their shots. It seems no approach with the media will appease said media. If a coach is dull, they rip him for being dull. But if Zimmer gets a little prickly with them, then they get totally outraged. It's always the wrong thing to say, or the wrong tone to take. Zimmer is in year 5 here, and he's had a lot of success. He's a damn good coach, but the media seems to be turning on him. Kirk Cousins is 8 games into year 1, and that turn is already beginning. There are certain media members who were trashing Cousins seemingly from the mom...

Them's The Breaks

Saints 30 Vikings 20 This SNF affair was hyped up as the rematch of last year's playoff game...but it would up being a sort of spiritual sequel to the 2009 NFC Championship Game. Once again we saw a Vikings team play an even game against an arguably superior Saints team, only to lose by repeatedly shooting themselves in the foot with devastating mistakes. I thought this would be a loss, given how shorthanded the Vikings were. But it was a win if you flip just two plays. The Adam Thielen fumble was one of the most abrupt, violent momentum swings I can recall. We are driving right down the field again, about to go up 20-10, and would get the ball to start the 3rd quarter. And Adam puts the ball on the ground. It just cannot happen. That mistake, coupled with the long return and the Laquon helmet toss, giftwrapped a Saints TD from which the Vikings never really recovered. Just like everyone in purple kept fumbling in that title game And then Stefon Diggs inexplicably just stops r...

Halloween H40

The new Halloween movie has really been built up by the filmmakers and a lot of fans as the 1st REAL sequel. This movie retroactively removes every single sequel or reboot as canon. So you would think that with that build up this film must really be good. It's not. It's actually kind of terrible. It's already made a bucket of money, and will surely lead to a whole new batch of sequels, but it's not good. The film has no personality. It's weird. You'd think that with David Gordon Green directing and with Danny McBride as one of the writers, you'd expect this film to stand out. But mostly it's content to just trace the outlines of previous films. It's basically a more serious version of H20, only with Jamie Lee Curtis's family tree a little altered. Halloween H40 is basically just a mediocre slasher movie that wallows in all the worst tropes of the genre. It has no characters aside from Curtis who hold your interest at all. It's not scary, o...

Twins new manager Rocco Baldelli

I'm not sure if he will be a good manager or not. I caught some of his press conference today and he seems pretty sharp, and player friendly. I'm just amazed that my ballclub now has a manager who is younger than me. I'm so old. 😦

And now comes the victim blaming by the Orange Fuhrer

Image
Can you even IMAGINE if Bush had said the day after 9/11 that the attacks were the fault of the victims themselves? Cause that is what this reprehensible motherfucker did here. These bombs(which are still coming) make for the largest terrorist attack in scope in this country since 9/11. Oh, they don't count cause only liberals were targeted? Fuck off. We are under attack in this country. We are under attack by our supposed leader, a man who endorsed and encouraged these attacks. A man who behind closed doors is delighted that this is happening. A man whose only regret is that the targets of these attacks were not successfully killed. A man who gives the usual fake canned teleprompter condemnation that nobody with a brain buys. A man who then makes it very clear, yet again, that the VICTIMS of right wing crimes have only themselves to blame. HE IS OUR ENEMY. DONALD TRUMP IS THE BIGGEST DOMESTIC TERRORIST THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN. Oh, you say "he can't be a terro...

Trump-fueled right wing crazies sending mass bombs now

As if there could have been any other result from a deranged president and an evil right wing media spending day after day, year after year demonizing every single prominent figure on the left, and calling the press the enemy of the people, and promoting violence against journalists here and abroad. This will not stop. The lion has been released from the cage. The right wing lunatics have been given free reign to run rampant across this country. And we're supposed to feel guilty that Mitch Mcconnell or the.pig woman got yelled at at a restaurant? They're already screaming "false flag" because of course they are. But it's very real. This is the new standard operating procedure for the right wing in this country. They are violent. They are hateful. They are deeply stupid, thus easily led by a madman like Trump. They are hypocrites to their core, so they see no contradiction in calling poor Mexicans terrorists while they themselves start fights with pea...

Sack Daddy's back!

Great, surprising news to have Everson Griffen back with the Vikings. I wasn't sure if we would see him again this season. And it comes at a great time, cause we need him badly this week. I'm not sure the Vikings can win this week if they're really shorthanded.

First Jack, now here comes Zuckerberg

Soaring back into 1st

VIKINGS 37 JETS 17 It's been a bumpy road to be sure, but 7 weeks in the Vikings are right back where they should be: 1st place in the NFC North. Today's game at times almost felt like a rerun of last week. Ugly 1st half, followed by a dominant early 3rd quarter to pad the lead, followed by an inability to fully stick the dagger in. We still have not seen that complete performance by the Vikings this year. It looked like we were going to get another dominant road performance by the offense. 1st drive right down the field. Kirk to Adam. We lead. But then the offense really struggled the rest of the half. They were gifted great field position over and over but only had 3 more points to show for it by halftime, although Bailey had 3 stolen from.him by a wicked wind. But the run game was being stuffed again, and Kirk missed on a couple throws that could have made this an early rout. Jets have a solid defense, but it was frustrating. 2nd half was much better. The run game got e...

Sports convergence Saturday

We were in the sweet spot today. All 4 major sports in play. MLB, NBA, NHL and college football. And 3 of the 4 had local teams in play. The night was crazy busy, but as an appetizer we got the clash of the Big Ten titans. Gophers at Nebraska. And you know, I think we knew what might happen here. Sure the Gophers hung with Ohio State last week, but Nebraska was winless. It was such an obvious Gophers thing to do to become Nebraska's 1st victim. And the Fighting Flecks played right along. 28-0 before the 1st half ended. They scored a little bit then to make the Husker fans on Reddit paranoid, but then came another humiliating quarter that blew the game open again. 53-28. Almost 700 yards surrendered. Almost FOUR HUNDRED yards rushing. The 3rd time in 4 weeks this team has been curb stomped by an opponent. How the fuck did they hang with OSU? (Oh wait, perhaps Purdue beating the Buckeyes down tonight is a clue). PJ Fleck's Year One(soon to surely be RE-dubbed a 2nd Year Zero) is...

Latest conservative endorsement: Dead Journalists

So now they are wholeheartedly siding with dictators murdering journalists. Guess we now know what they will say when Trump starts having journalists in THIS country killed. Cause that IS coming. The right wing hate machine has ginned up so much hatred for people in the media who don't fall in authoritarian line that I'm frankly amazed there hasn't already been more violence. We had that one mass shooting in Maryland, I think, which was carried out by an insane right winger motivated by Fox News, but as the perceived justification for violence grows in the deranged minds of these MAGAts, you can bet the acts of violence will only increase. If the dems win back even just the house in a few weeks, the MAGAts are going to snap beyond all comprehension and try to get revenge any way they can. And Trump will cheer them on. Or do we need him to endorse a THIRD dictator for the point to get through?

Oh boy the NBA is back 😴😴😴

Here's to 6 meaningless regular season months leading up to a postseason in which, barring a major injury or trade, at MOST 5 teams have a chance to win a title: Warriors, Rockets, Celtics, Sixers and the LAbrons. All big markets of course. The Wolves are already a nationwide joke, but I am curious to see how much more of a laughingstock they can become before Glen Taylor forces Thibs's hand in jettisoning the diva Butler.

Horseface? Really?

Horseface says the morbidly obese slob. Horseface says the morbidly obese slob with the laughable toupee. Horseface says the morbidly obese slob with the laughable toupee and the disgusting orange tan. Horseface says the morbidly obese slob with the laughable toupee and the disgusting orange tan, who also has a tiny mushroom-shaped cock with which he has never once brought Melania to orgasm. That guy is attacking somebody else's looks?

Another NFL referee snow job in service of their precious Packahs.

I mean jesus fucking christ, I can't recall an NFL game that was that obviously rigged at the end. Tired of these biased announcers too. The slurping of Rodgers tonight was an embarrassment. They spent the whole damn 2nd half building up the potential comeback(comeback? They were never down more than 7 yet those idiots built it up like 28-3). And hey, it only took like 4 tries for their god QB to make that comeback. But it was built up like John Elway in Cleveland. And all it required was the mother of all bailout flags, and a nonstop barrage of obvious holding by the Packers OL that as we have all learned after many years of this bullshit is just never ever ever EVER going to be called. Hell, they can hold 4 or 5 guys simultaneously and the refs just stand there with their thumbs in their asses. I'm so fucking sick of it. The days of the superstar QB are coming to an end. There are really no guys behind Rodgers, Brady, Brees, and Roethlisberger that the NFL thinks people w...

Nevermind. Same old AFC.

Only mystery that conference has left is what scrub team the Patriots host in the divisional round and what team loses the AFC championship game at Gillette Stadium. It never ends.

No Miracles Required

VIKINGS 27 CARDINALS 17 It was snowing on the way to the purple palace today. Normally snow on October 14th would make me mad, but today it just added to the atmosphere. And it reminded me of the last time it was snowing on a Vikings gameday. 9 months ago today. The Minneapolis Miracle game.  It felt like a good sign. And it was. The Vikings had some bumps today, but no miracles were needed to ultimately handle the Cards and go to 3-2-1, in a season that all the media geniuses were proclaiming over just 8 days ago. It was 2010 redux, they said. Idiots. I had hopes for a major breakout win today, a win that was finally the perfect version of these Vikings. I didn't quite get that, but who cares? Perfection doesn't exist. Any game that goes in that left column is good enough, more so than ever in this wacky season. The defensive improvement we saw against Philly carried over. This defense was flying all over the field today. It was easily their closest to dominance they have...

Dilly Dilly We Took Down Philly!

VIKINGS 23 EAGLES 21 I barely even thought about the Vikings this week. Not that I thought they had NO chance to win, but after the last couple games I was pretty much just looking ahead to the post-Philly schedule when it eases up a lot. I was more concerned with HOW the Vikings looked in this game then whether or not they actually won. A competitive loss like last week, with hopefully better defense, and I could still buy it that this team can put it together and make a run. A 38-7 repeat and it would be pretty hard to maintain optimism. Instead we got the best of all. This team played its best game of the season AND won the damn game. The defense in the first half....YES! That is what we have been missing. The pass rush was effective. The big plays were being limited, if not erased completely. And they put one in the endzone themselves, with the Linval rumble that may be hard to top as my favorite play of the season. And once again Kirk Cousins was excellent. The offense stalle...

It's officially open season on every woman in this country

You thought the GOP already had a war on women going? Just wait til the Trump court makes rape legal. Oh you think they won't? Oh sure they may not be that blunt about it, but just wait til they remake the laws in this country so that any sort of sexual assault is completely impossible to prosecute. Judge RapeAndCry will make it his personal mission for the rest of his life to get revenge on the entire female gender. Abortion rights get all the attention, but that's just the showy part of it. It WILL be the singular goal of the Trump court to obliterate any rights women have to do anything in this country. And then they'll of course go after every other non-straight white male. Voting rights? Gone. Civil rights? See ya. Laws dealing with discrimination? Bye bye. It's all going to go away. No blue wave will be big enough . And the dems will sadly never have the guts to impeach Judge RapeAndCry, or expand the court to take away the fascist majority. Or eliminate the el...

Stick your Presidential Alert up your fat ass, Dotard!

Woe Cubs Woe

Last Saturday morning the Cubs led the NL Central. Then they drop 1 to the Cardinals to lose the division lead. Then they lose a home tiebreaker to Milwaukee. Then they lose a 13 inning wild card game at home to Colorado, blowing countless scoring chances late. Season over just like that. Baseball can be a tough beast sometimes.

Paul Molitor fired

Falvine finally got to do what they probably would have done 2 years ago if they were allowed to, and DEFINITELY what they would have done last year had the Twins not had that August and September dash to the playoffs: fire Paul Molitor. I'm surprised at the amount of outrage there seems to be about this. I wonder how many of the same fans mad about this used to gripe about how the Twins never wanted to fire anybody, and held onto players for sentimental, not practical reasons. This organization last won a playoff GAME in 2004, yet waited another 10 years to finally dispatch Ron Gardenhire. They gave Joe Mauer and his agent every dime they wanted rather than take a very small risk in losing him to a big market. They refused to deal fan favorites like Joe Nathan and Michael Cuddyer rather than risk fan backlash. They were wrong...wrong with how they ran this franchise. For years. Then finally 2 years ago they went outside the Twins Way bubble and hired 2 young guys from other, BET...

MLB Playoffs

So we got 1 pretty good game 163 today, and one dud. And now the playoffs are ready to go. It's a really wide open field this year. I'm fairly sure the AL champ wins the world series, but any of these teams could play in it. I had Yankees over Cubs at the start of the year, and I'll just stick with that even though both have to get out of the wild card game. I hope Oakland gets it done, but as a franchise their 21st century is as bad as the Twins when it comes to playoff success. The team with the best regular season record rarely win it all. If the Red Sox play the Yankees I think NY wins that. Houston vs Cleveland should be close , but I would give Houston the edge. I would give the Brewers a great shot to make their 1st world series since 1982. I would give LA the nod over Atlanta. The Braves are the only team in the NL that didn't have to sweat out the full 162, so they could either be rested or rusty.
