It's basically Frequency with a few tweaks. Wasn't a bad thriller, but it was predictable.

Brittany Runs A Marathon

Who knew Jillian Bell had this in her? This was a really funny, charming comedy with more gravitas than expected.

It: Chapter 2

I thought part 1 was pretty good, but a lot of that had to do with the ensemble of kids. This one is mostly those kids as adults, and despite some very good actors taking over like Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader, this is far less compelling. Flashbacks to the kids aren't scary cause we know they lived. I honestly had a hard time staying awake. This movie is not only dreadfully long(over 2 1/2 hours for NO reason) but it is paced painfully slowly.

Hustlers

It's not just camp. There's a story here, but it's a story that's extremely familiar. It's every rags to criminal riches story ever. The framing device with the journalist is kind of useless, although it was nice to see Julia Stiles for the first time in a while. The glitziness and energy carry the movie. Jennifer Lopez isn't Oscar worthy as the hype says, but she's actually trying in a movie for the first time in years. Constance Wu is very good. There's a scene with "Gimme More" so that's a highlight.

Ad Astra

I really got into this. Brad Pitt is as stoic and reserved as he was bold and charismatic in Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. I loved the world building here, as it's set in a plausible near future where we've colonized the moon and even Mars. There are some amazing visuals. The sequence with the apes is one of the scariest of the year. I liked that the ending didn't go for the kind of cliched bleak sci-fi finish.

Official Secrets

Can't imagine a movie more timely that one about the government going after a whistleblower. This one dates back to the lead up to the Iraq War. Kiera Knightley is in top form. The film really makes you feel that noose tightening.

Awful NFL season ends with awful Super Bowl

BUCCANEERS 31 CHIEFS 9 The 2020 NFL season is over. Thank god! A season that was almost across the board unenjoyable, and felt empty and largely felt manipulated, ended with the worst outcome imaginable. With a result that not only continues this 20 year nightmare but that will frankly hurt the NFL for years to come. I was not looking forward to this game. I knew this was going to happen. Maybe not in blowout fashion but I knew the NFL was going to see to it that Tom Brady got his 7th title. The house wins. The game was never fun. Right from the start the Chiefs seemed sleepy, like they weren't really in it. This team plays with swagger, but in this game they had none. Patrick Mahomes was under enormous pressure from the start. The Chiefs grabbed the 1st lead at 3-0 but then from basically the end of the 1st quarter until halftime it was a nightmare.
