I hope Kirk Cousins leaves Minnesota

I'm done.

Kirk, I truly hope you are under center for some other franchise come this fall.

We do not deserve you. You do not deserve this.

We have spent so many years waiting for a really good, stable, productive starting QB. In the years since Tarkenton retired, we have generally had good QBs, but it's always been something fleeting. We have lost NFC title games with Wade Wilson, Randall Cunningham, Brett Favre, and Case Keenum, but none of them were here for long. It was fleeting.

The 1 time we reached a title game with someone who wasn't fleeting was with Culpepper. But he was at his best when the franchise was being run by a cheap ass, then he blew his knee out and less than a year after he was an MVP runner up it was just over.

Over a decade passed until we just so happened to luck out and have a QB of Kirk's caliber hit the free agent market just when we needed a big upgrade. This was the kind of good fortune this franchise never gets. He even took less money to come here than he would have gotten in New York. And by every same, reasonable measure he has lived up to the contract he signed.

And all this fanbase and media has done for the last three years is tear him down at every single opportunity. Blame him for every single thing that has gone wrong. Break their backs to NOT give him any credit for his good games and wins. Lambaste him ad nauseum for every slip up, every defeat.

These fucking people treat Kirk Cousins like he is Christian Ponder. They talk about him like his signing was a fucking disaster instead of a no-brainer homerun.

They will simply not let go of their false narratives about the contract. This team has not lost ONE significant player that they wanted to keep over the last 3 years as a result of what Cousins is being paid. Not one. If we had a cheap QB or a rookie, we still were not going to break the bank for a Trae Waynes deal or keep paying big money to declining players like Linval Joseph or Xavier Rhodes.

But we HAVE retained players like Hunter, Kendricks, Thielen, and Cook.

And the Diggs thing had precisely zero to do with Kirk's contract. Hell, Diggs was one of the guys we extended AFTER signing Kirk. Oh sure the media and fans fueled the fire on the "Stefon hates Kirk" drama, just like they tried to do the same with Jefferson this past year. But Diggs was going to pull that crap with any QB.

No, we haven't won a super bowl with Kirk. We may never. That's not the bar for a sane, rational person. We got a massive upgrade at QB over what we had. With everything else that went on, like the sharp decline of the defense, we were not winning a title with Keenum, Teddy, or any of the rookies available to us.

This fanbase now has stars in their eyes about a longshot chance to maybe trade for Deshaun Watson. Look, if it's as simple as 1 to 1, I would take Watson over Kirk. I would. Watson is younger, more mobile (which isn't the end all be all some claim, but it helps) and arguably has a better chance to fully carry a team. But he also is coming off a 4-12 season. And no, QB wins are not a stat, but they ARE to the same people who desperately want to dump Cousins.

This fanbase deserves misery. They deserve a return to QB purgatory. They deserve to never see a super bowl title. I swear to god, if my Vikings fandom were tied to liking other so-called Vikings fans, I would be done with this team. These people are a fucking joke.

If Kirk goes, I will root for him to absolutely crush it. Yes, even if he wound up in New England. I would buy a Cousins Patriots jersey. I hope his next fanbase appreciates his play. I hope his next fanbase doesn't devote every waking moment to trashing him and calling him overpaid and calling him a piece of shit and blaming him alone if that team falls short of winning a super bowl.

And I hope he gets to leave.
