A hellish sports weekend

As Minnesota sports weekends go, this was one for the books.

FRIDAY

A Wild team that had just gotten a seemingly big, meaningful win over Colorado goes to St. Louis and gets skull-fucked 9-1. Tying the franchise record for goals allowed.

The Wolves give up 145 points in a loss to Boston, including letting Jayson Tatum drop 53 on them.

SATURDAY

The Twins piss away their 3rd extra inning game of the season to Seattle through terrible execution and that absurd runner on 2nd rule.

The Wild, seemingly in position for a nice rebound win over the Blues, surrender the tying goal with a minute left, then give up the game winner with 2 seconds left in OT. So they gave up 4 points (retaining just 1) to the only team with a chance at knocking them out of the playoffs.

The Frozen Four that featured 3 Minnesota teams, as well as UMass...naturally ended with UMass winning it all, and in blowout fashion over St. Cloud State.

And in the most absurd twist, news broke that the Timberwolves are about to be sold to Marc Lowe...and Alex Rodriguez. I was sure this was a joke, but no. This frankly might warrant a separate blog, but suffice it to say that the franchise has not been this close to moving since they almost left in 1994.

SUNDAY

The Twins blew a 6-0 lead to Seattle and lost 8-6 and with it the series. They lost due to a couple more trademark horrendous pitching decisions by Rocco Baldelli. Somehow the Twins finish their 1st 9 games that have featured largely great starting pitching and the best play of Byron Buxton's career a mediocre 5-4.

Oh, but hey, the Wolves beat the Bulls. So we got that going for us, which is nice.
