Win Streak Ends
RED SOX 9
TWINS 2
A funny thing happened the last 2 weeks.
A Twins team that spent the early weeks of the season having everything go wrong that could go wrong suddenly reeled off a win streak the likes of which we have not seen since that 15 gamer in 1991 that really sparked that team's run to a title.
So naturally all those bad habits they broke suddenly came back as soon as I made my way to Target Field for the 2nd time this season on Sunday, where the 12 game win streak was resoundingly snapped.
I suppose we knew we were in trouble in the 2nd inning, when the Twins got 3 straight singles to load the bases with none out, only to then pull off the dreaded NOBLETIGER and come away with nothing.
Ryan Jeffers hit a solo shot the next inning to give the Twins the lead. But then Joe Ryan gave that run right back the next inning. Then in the 5th he gave up a 2 run homerun to the 8th hitter.
The Twins bats failed to respond, despite a few chances. A leadoff Carlos Santana double in the 5th was followed by the next 3 batters failing to hit a ball out of the infield. A pair of one out walks in the 6th were also stranded.
And by the later innings, we also had a bullpen implosion, courtesy of Kody Funderburk and Jay Jackson, which turned a close game into a rout.
Obviously I'm not going to rage against a team only winning 12 straight games. It's just annoying the game I went to they threw up a dud.
