Sports convergence Saturday
We were in the sweet spot today. All 4 major sports in play. MLB, NBA, NHL and college football. And 3 of the 4 had local teams in play.
The night was crazy busy, but as an appetizer we got the clash of the Big Ten titans. Gophers at Nebraska. And you know, I think we knew what might happen here. Sure the Gophers hung with Ohio State last week, but Nebraska was winless. It was such an obvious Gophers thing to do to become Nebraska's 1st victim. And the Fighting Flecks played right along. 28-0 before the 1st half ended. They scored a little bit then to make the Husker fans on Reddit paranoid, but then came another humiliating quarter that blew the game open again. 53-28. Almost 700 yards surrendered. Almost FOUR HUNDRED yards rushing. The 3rd time in 4 weeks this team has been curb stomped by an opponent. How the fuck did they hang with OSU? (Oh wait, perhaps Purdue beating the Buckeyes down tonight is a clue). PJ Fleck's Year One(soon to surely be RE-dubbed a 2nd Year Zero) is fast becoming a disaster. Even Tim Brewster had a bowl team in year 2.
Tonight I mostly stuck with NLCS game 7. I think the 2 LCSs this year were fantastic. And surprising. I thought it was Houston vs Milwaukee, but the Red Sox wowed me by sweeping 3 in Houston, and now tonight the Dodgers stunned me by taking game 7 in Miller Park with a rookie pitcher. Until tonight I thought the Brewers significantly outplayed LA in the series. But tonight they got an amazing catch, a Puig bomb, a lights out pen, and Dave Roberts completely outmanaged Craig Counsell. Why Counsell pulled Hader when he was completely unhittable is mind-boggling. Is it pitch count? Tell me it wasn't pitch count, cause that's insane.
I think Boston takes the world series, and might do so rather easily. And the Brewers remain without a world series title, so we still got that on those Sconnie fucks.
And in between the ballgame I also got to check out the Wild playing their obligatory OT after the obligatory late goal surrendered by Dubnyk. But Granny won it for em so it's alright.
And I saw the Wolves get fucked by the refs and lose, which was less alright. But at least Judas Butler got to rest. 🙄
If Wisconsin never won another game again (in any sport), I would be more than okay with it. Let’s be honest, I’m not a nice person.
