Minnesota sports roundup: MAKE IT STOP

So....we're not even 3 weeks into the calendar year yet and already this is looking like a fucking doozy. 

The Vikings bellyflop against the Bears was technically 2018, but we'll give it the honor of having started this whole recent deluge of misery.

Since then, almost every other team in town has contributed to this, except the Twins and the freaking soccer team.

It had looked at times like our 4 primary winter sports teams were all at least going to offer us some postseason contention.

Timberwolves? At least Thibs was fired and we got that fun win in OKC. But whatever early positive vibes from that have been nuked by that terrible home loss to Dallas and then the flat out disgraceful way they allowed Jimmy Butler and the Sixers to not just blow them off the court the other night but also rub their noses in it, all the while offering nary a trace of pushback. 

Wild? They have sort of been doing their usual thing of winning just enough to cling to a playoff spot. But they lost back to back games to 2 of the worst teams in the NHL. And now they've traded Nino, in a deal that seems to be a total puzzler in that it doesn't shed salary or get the roster younger. It will likely be only the beginning of a tear down, which could mean many winters of fully irrelevant hockey. 

Gopher mens hoops? Seemed like they were building a solid chance at a tournament bid. Aaand then they get absolutely destroyed by an Illinois team with no conference wins. 

Gopher womens hoops? Remember when they were 12-0? Well they've lost 4 straight since that, each one worse than the last one.

And now today there's a report out there that Maya Moore might sit out the upcoming Lynx season, or even ask to be traded.

MAKE IT STOP!!!

    Is there’s any reason why she would sit out the season? Yes, 2018 was a very off year for them but that one bad year doesn’t mean you ask to be traded. If I recall correctly, Moore didn’t have her best year last year either- like something was off.

Awful NFL season ends with awful Super Bowl

BUCCANEERS 31 CHIEFS 9 The 2020 NFL season is over. Thank god! A season that was almost across the board unenjoyable, and felt empty and largely felt manipulated, ended with the worst outcome imaginable. With a result that not only continues this 20 year nightmare but that will frankly hurt the NFL for years to come. I was not looking forward to this game. I knew this was going to happen. Maybe not in blowout fashion but I knew the NFL was going to see to it that Tom Brady got his 7th title. The house wins. The game was never fun. Right from the start the Chiefs seemed sleepy, like they weren't really in it. This team plays with swagger, but in this game they had none. Patrick Mahomes was under enormous pressure from the start. The Chiefs grabbed the 1st lead at 3-0 but then from basically the end of the 1st quarter until halftime it was a nightmare.
