The Mueller Report: What the hell were you expecting?

On one hand I feel bad for my fellow liberals who really did believe that this Mueller investigation was going to be THE thing that finally took down Trump once and for all.

But on the other hand, those people were dreadfully naive. The investigation was worth it to nail Manafort and Cohen and some of these other Trump cronies. Nobody can pretend Trump had no connection to their crimes, unless they are paid to(and many are). That stink won't go away.

But the fantasy some had about the report coming out and Trump being led out of the White House in handcuffs was foolish. I can have a fantasy about a threeway with Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz, but I am not stupid enough to expect it to happen. Trump was never going to face any sort of criminal prosecution as a result of the Mueller probe.

Mueller himself doesn't think a sitting president can be indicted in the first place. Once we knew that, we knew this was not going to end with Trump facing justice while he is still president. He is protected by the office. It's basically the old "if the president does it it's not illegal."

When you rig the game, you can't lose, and as president Trump can do that. He can appoint his own handpicked attorney general, who would never EVER prosecute him, and who gets to take the Mueller report, and do whatever the hell he wants to it, without letting anybody else ever see it, then present his own "summary" and that's basically it.

Now, sure, the dems are perhaps not going to let it be quite that easy. They have options to get the report, or subpoena Mueller himself, but ultimately all roads lead back to the system that is set up to make Trump untouchable.

The worrisome part of all of this now is how it will be spun by the corporate media. The MAGAts are beside themselves in celebration, but they were always going to be that way. And they were going to keep supporting this psycho forever. But the media will likely spin this as proof that Trump is squeaky clean and all the Russia stuff was a hoax, even though we have a boatload of convictions, and shit like Trump asking for the Hillary emails in front of the world, to show that it's not. And they will say nothing of this rigged system. It's no different then the cop who kills the unarmed black kid, and all the evidence proves it unjust, but then the.PD just investigates itself and decides "it's all good."

I just hope the corporate media, that wants Trump to get a 2nd term, isn't able to muddy the waters on this. This man has done so much ghastly shit in the last 2+ years that have nothing at all to do with Russian election interference. He can't be impeached either(sorry, Pelosi is right on that), but that blue wave last fall had nothing to do with Mueller or Russia or impeachment. It had to do with the harm he and his cohorts are doing to this country, and the good people left in this dying country standing up and fighting back.

This is just a bit of a sobering reminder that the enemy we are fighting still holds most of the power that matters.

Get him out of office next year, and then maybe we can have some glorious fun holding him criminally accountable.
