Twins medical staff at it again

Miguel Sano, injured during, of all things, a winter league title celebration. He gets a lacerated heel somehow. He begins spring training in a walking boot.

Twins medical staff still insists he will only miss a week or two, and easily be ready to roll by opening day.

So much for that. Today the team announces Sano will not only not be ready by opening day, he won't be ready until May.

How the hell are they THAT wrong on an injury timetable?  How do you go from early March to May? And btw, that's also assuming Sano even plays by May.

Last year these fools for some reason had Ervin Santana not have surgery until February, then insisted he would only miss a few April starts. He didn't pitch until late July, and even then he wasn't actually ready.

Last week I read a story about Brian Dozier, where he said he had a pretty bad knee injury last season yet played through it. Now  I may have normally chalked that up to a guy making excuses for his poor performance, but maybe we gotta put that on a medical staff that cannot diagnose injuries. Is it always 100% on the player coming forward with an injury?

And for years, this team has botched injury diagnoses and timetables. How many times has it happened? How many times has a player been ruled day to day, only to have them not even be DL-ed until a week or more later? How many times has a pitcher been hurt, but they aren't sure if they need Tommy John surgery or not? They always suggest delaying surgery and are always wrong.

On top of all this, what about how almost every time a player is DL-ed they are NEVER back in the 10(or before 15) days? There's always the rehab assignment, which tacks on.probably at least a week to their absence.

I'm sure there has been staff turnover over the years, and obviously all teams deal with injuries, but I can't imagine another team botches all aspects of the rehab process like the Twins do.
