Thoughts about #FreeBritney

I'm not entirely sure what to make of this whole thing, the increased attention paid to Britney's conservatorship.

We got the report of her checking into a "mental health facility" recently due to stress from dealing with her dad's serious illness. But now there is all this talk that she was forced to go.

I listened to the podcast that had this alleged source on regarding this situation. I was almost crying at points listening to it, and not even because I necessarily believed everything. Just the idea of these things being done to Britney made me upset.

I honestly don't know what to believe.

The conservatorship began as sort of a last ditch effort to get Britney out of that place she was in in 07-08. Her public breakdown has been well documented. It seemed from afar like, okay, it worked. Britney got back to her career, she seemed happy, she had her smash residency, all that.

She has largely shied away from doing much promotion for things the last 11 years. And for the most part the stuff she HAS done has been pretty dull. It has felt very canned and shallow. She has felt almost removed from her own career that way. But again, she seemed happy. A lot of fans got mad at how little was done to promote her last couple albums in particular, but I kind of just shrugged it off.

The conservatorship was one of those things that, when I heard of it, it was always just an "oh right, that thing's still going on." Again, I have no idea if these newer rumors are true. I mean, if you know a bit about Britney's childhood and early career, you know her dad is far from some angel. But I have a hard time believing that he would knowingly be involved.in some of these alleged things. Now, we know basically nothing about his status with regards to his health.

I do know though that there is no reason for Britney to still be under the conservatorship. Enough is enough. Even if it made sense in 2008, she is now 37 years old. She hasn't had a single thing in a decade that would indicate that she can't handle herself. She did some stupid shit in the past, but does that require a lifelong sentence? I don't see Demi Lovato being treated like this, and she's had way worse issues.

It pisses me off how ultra controlling and secretive Team Britney always is. Even now, several days after these at least fairly credible rumors came out, we have heard nothing. About the only response has been Brtney's mom and her boyfriend liking Instagram comments with  #FreeBritney in them. But does that mean something?

I do love seeing all the fan support. Britney has the best fans. We've been through some shit but are still here.
