Wild Card Weekend

Saturday:

BENGALS 26, RAIDERS 19

I don't even know how this game managed to come down to a 4th down play at the goal line. Watching the game the Bengals were clearly the far better team. Joe Burrow was lights out. They clamped down on Vegas in the redzone repeatedly. Vegas committed dumb penalties. They struggled to even get plays off in time a lot for some reason. Ànd so the Bengals get their 1st playoff win since I was in the 6th grade.

BILLS 47, PATRIOTS 17

Yeah I'd say the Bills have fully righted themselves. This was as complete a massacre as any playoff game I have ever seen. The Bills scored 7 touchdowns on their first 7 possessions, and it wasn't even like any of those drives were challenging. The Patriots got absolutely smoked. I can't even imagine how joyous it must have been for a Bills fan to watch that game.

Sunday:

BUCCANEERS 31, EAGLES 15

Proud to say I didn't watch one solitary second of this horseshit.

49ERS 23, COWBOYS 17

I wouldn't say this was a great game overall, but that 4th quarter was just one crazy event after another. You had such wild swings of emotion on seemingly every play. You have turnovers and near turnovers and a fake punt and weird penalties and strange coaching decisions and it culminates in that moronic decision to run a draw play and let the clock run out. And no, that ain't on the refs (and I never pass up a chance to  lame officiating). Dallas blew it. The 49ers did their thing mostly, aside from Garappolo making a couple dumb mistakes. Naturally they got banged up heading into a matchup with the Packers.

CHIEFS 42, STEELERS 21

Classic Mahomes era Chiefs. You think for a little while that they might be in some trouble (Pittsburgh did lead) and then in like 5 minutes the Chiefs have 3 touchdowns and are rolling. No other team can quite do that, and certainly not the overmatched Steelers in Ben Roethlisberger's likely final game.

Monday:

RAMS 34, CARDINALS 11

I thought the Cardinals would pull off the upset. Oops. They were awful. Kyler Murray was a top MVP candidate much of the season but was atrocious in this game, including an embarrassing pick six play. The Rams only had to stand there and not screw it up, and they didn't. The Rams have the tools to go all the way, but now they will face Tampa and run into refball bullshit.
