Vikings set the roster

More surprising developments today than I saw coming. Guess that's what make them surprises.

Brian Robison is cut. The longest tenured Viking, he spanned 2 eras of Vikings defenses. He began with the Williams Wall and Jared Allen. Then after the Leslie Frazier abyss, he had a major role in the Zimmer-led revival. But given the amount of young talent this team has on the DL it's not that surprising to see him go. Why keep him for at most 1 more year when you can get equivalent production from a younger, cheaper guy like Bower or Weatherly? But Robison had a great run. Sort of the Gary Larsen of this era. Always surrounded by bigger stars, but was always super reliable.

Terrence Newman retires, and becomes an instant coach. I bet he'll make a great coach. I'm mostly sad cause he was the last Viking, maybe ever, who was older than me. There are now no Vikings older than 30 or 31.

Among other cuts, it was not that surprising to see Kendall Wright go. Similar reasons to Robison. Why have a more expensive vet in a spot that tbh won't get THAT much use? Zylstra and Coley can give you 20 or 30 catches. I do hope Chad Beebe can be brought back.

Roc Thomas making the 53 was surprising, cause I didn't see much chance of them keeping 5 backs.

As always there's the chance Slick Rick will pull off another move before the opener, but other than that this roster is stacked.

    I think the fan based was shocked by the Brian Robison cut because he was such a fan favorite. But we can't let our feelings get in the way- sorry it's a business. I also think Robison was being used more and more in situational plays. Like you said here and I mentioned on Twitter we are stacked at that position, keep the young, talented guys so we can have success for years to come at defense.

    And even though these players aren't on the Vikes squad they are still older than us. Stabastian Janikowski, Brady, Matt Bryant, Phil Dawson, and of course Adam Vinatieri- who at this point probably has kids older than some of his teammates.

    Regardless, this team looks great on paper and I'm really looking forward to this season. SKOL!! 💜💛🏈💛💜

Awful NFL season ends with awful Super Bowl

BUCCANEERS 31 CHIEFS 9 The 2020 NFL season is over. Thank god! A season that was almost across the board unenjoyable, and felt empty and largely felt manipulated, ended with the worst outcome imaginable. With a result that not only continues this 20 year nightmare but that will frankly hurt the NFL for years to come. I was not looking forward to this game. I knew this was going to happen. Maybe not in blowout fashion but I knew the NFL was going to see to it that Tom Brady got his 7th title. The house wins. The game was never fun. Right from the start the Chiefs seemed sleepy, like they weren't really in it. This team plays with swagger, but in this game they had none. Patrick Mahomes was under enormous pressure from the start. The Chiefs grabbed the 1st lead at 3-0 but then from basically the end of the 1st quarter until halftime it was a nightmare.
