A National Embarrassment

I'm not even waiting til this game ends.

The Vikings, who after a rough September had rebuilt their season into something not only salvageable, but potentially special, apparently spent their bye week deciding that, nah, we want to be also rans in 2018. We don't really want to defend our division title from the upstart Bears. We would rather just let ourselves be relegated to a cluttered wild card race.

I have no other real explanation for this complete and utter embarrassment that this Sunday Night game is. You have your biggest game of the season, with 2 weeks to prepare for it, and these jackasses look like they have never played the sport of football before.

The defense, which even with those September struggles, came in one of the league's best, being made to look positively amateurish by Mitchell Fucking Trubisky. Okay he runs around. Is that something new? Have we never seen a scrambling QB before?  This fucking guy was allowed to run all over the damn field the whole 1st half. He didn't even have to throw much, but of course when he did he found guys wide open, including one in the endzone. Hell, the Bears even went for a 2, which they easily got, cause they think so little of our blatantly unprepared defense.

The offense was always going to have their hands full with Mack and the rest of that defense, but jesus christ have they made it easy. No running game. Cook fumbles. Misreads. Riley Reiff being tossed around like a rag doll. A bad Cousins pick.

Again  what did they do during the bye? I haven't seen a Vikings team so thoroughly unprepared in ages. Maybe not even in the Zimmer era.

Even a close, competitive loss here would make the path to a division title tricky. You don't want to be in chase mode. But the Vikings have so decisively given up their claim to being the best team in the NFC North that now, instead of spending the next 6 weeks after this looking to hold off these Bears and get a home playoff game, we will have to seriously sweat out even making the playoffs.

The math shows the Vikings will still be in good shape for a wild card. They will finish the night in the same 6th seed they started the day in. Some good things happened elsewhere in the NFC today for us.

But I'm sorry, this team cannot be taken seriously if this is the kind of effort they choose to give on a primetime stage against our #1  division adversary this year.

The Vikings super bowl dreams have officially died for yet another year.
