The day democracy was saved

Well that all turned out pretty solid after all.

Around 7 or so it was looking like catastrophe. That was about the same time of night 2 years ago that that horror began to really take shape.  No....it can't be happening again.

It didn't. We got the house back. We won a whole bunch of big governorships(Kansas gettin all blue!). The senate didn't work out, but that was always a long shot this year, and Beto nearly winning in crappy ass Texas sets him up for big things. Florida screwed us as usual(time to just give up on that state).

And Minnesota, after coming a whole lot closer to turning red in 2016 than I could stomach, swung overwhelmingly back to blue. I am SO glad that the insane barrage of negative ads against Dean Phillips failed. I am very relieved that the unjust ousting of Al Franken didn't cost us. Nothing at all against Tina Smith, but that could have been a disaster. The smear campaigns against Keith Ellison and Ilhan Omar failed. A lot of other places in this country still seem determined to fuck themselves over, but we hold strong.

The media is already spinning this into not a big win for dems. I never used the term "blue wave."  I didn't care. Wave shmave. The dems had to fucking WIN. Democracy was over if they didn't get back at least SOME power. We did. Trump is neutered now. He can't just run roughshod over the constitution anymore. And in the broader picture, the diversity of elected dems, and the number of women elected are huge. That whole "big tent" thing about the party is back in action.

And they pulled it off in a midterm when the left just doesn't get their asses out there to vote. And they did it in the face of unprecedented voter suppression(Georgia was decided ENTIRELY due to this).

And we still might have a nice cherry on top, cause that fucknut Scott Walker might lose.

  1. It was a very good day. The Dems picked up 27 seats and Dotard is very, very nervous over it.
I love that Ilhan Omar won. She is a very intelligent and eloquent individual. I’m so excited she’s representing Minnesota. Regarding Philips, I think I heard that was the first time since the 60s a Democrat has won that district-which is awesome. My district failed and sent Hagerdorn. I tried I voted for Feehan.
And Walker can’t ask for a recount because of a law he signed. Not even sorry for laughing.
