NFL Week 1 recap
Thursday:
[Bills 31, Rams 10]
I picked the Bills to win this game, and eventually the super bowl, but they exceeded my expectations. Stafford was shit, sure, but the Bills look like a juggernaut. Clearly the Rams were discombobulated following the departure of Kevin O'Connell.
Sunday:
[Bears 19, 49ers 10]
I picked SF to face the Bills in that super bowl, but holy shit will that not happen if Trey Lance plays like this. Yes the field was atrocious, but Lance was terrible. Fields wasn't even good, he simply got a couple absurdly wide open receivers.
[Eagles 38, Lions 35]
Not quite as close as the score. The Eagles looked potent. They'll be a tricky opponent for the Vikings next week, although if the Lions can drop 35 we should be able to score.
[Steelers 23, Bengals 20 in OT]
The super bowl loser curse gets an early start. Joe Burrow threw 4 picks, yet the Bengals would have won if they simply made the extra point at 20-20. Pittsburgh clearly has some defense, although they lost TJ Watt for a while.
[Browns 26, Panthers 24]
Baker Mayfield does not get his revenge, cause the Browns kicker hit a 58 yard field goal for the win. Somehow the Browns hadn't won in week 1 since 2004.
[Saints 27, Falcons 26]
Atlanta blows a lead, as is their custom. Saints 1st win of the post Sean "Butthole Lips" Payton era.
[Dolphins 20, Patriots 7]
Pats did nothing. Maybe annointing Mac Jones so soon was a mistake, eh?
[Ravens 24, Jets 9]
Baltimore with a methodical domination of the Joe Flacco-led Jets.
[Commanders 28, Jaguars 22]
Carson Wentz looked pretty good. Got them up early, brought them back late. I still think the Jags could be pesky.
[Colts 20, Texans 20 TIE]
Well, the Colts had to make a comeback to get a tie but they still have to feel gross about this.
[Chiefs 44, Cardinals 21]
It's simple. When Patrick Mahomes plays like that, he and the Chiefs cannot be beat. Period.
[Chargers 24, Raiders 19]
Chargers get an early leg up in the division.
[Giants 21, Titans 20]
I saw the Titans early lead then was wrapped up in the Vikings so I was stunned to see the result. Props to Brian Daboll for going for 2 and the win.
[Buccaneers 19, Cowboys 3]
What? A Tom Brady defense dominating a game and giving him an easy win? Year 21 of this bullshit. Dallas lost Dak for a while, so they are already in shambles.
Monday:
[Seahawks 17, Broncos 16]
Russell Wilson's homecoming was a comedy of errors. Two deep fumbles, and that preposterous decision by Hackett to burn the clock and try a 64 yard field goal. Why trade so much for Wilson if you don't think he can convert a 4th and 5?
