Vikings settle the roster

Roster cut downs happened this week. And I am here to break it all down, position by position.

QB

To the surprise of few, both Kellen Mond and Sean Mannion were cut. To the surprise of, well, me, neither made it to the practice squad. Mond was claimed by Cleveland to be their #3 QB until the predator is back. And Mannion joined Seattle's PS. So we picked up David Blough from the Lions, who started against us a few years ago and, as I've learned on Hard Knocks, has a smoking hot wife.

RB

Everyone of note stayed. Mattison was not traded. Chandler was not cut. So KOC has a lot of toys.

WR

The big news here was the trade for Jalen Reagor, who the Eagles famously drafted just before JJ 2 years ago. We got him pretty cheap, so it's a good deal I think. He's basically been a bust so far, but with shaky QB play. I think KOC can use him well. Plus he will likely return punts.
The deal led to the release of Ihmir Smith-Marsette, who the Bears picked up. Jalen Nailor made the team. Dan Chisena got cut, but ended up on the PS.

TE

Zack Davidson got cut. Surprisingly they didn't claim or sign anybody, so Irv, Mundt, and Ellefson are the 3 guys.

OL

With Ingram having won the RG spot, they traded Jesse Davis to Pittsburgh for a low pick. The only "surprise" cut was Wyatt Davis, who the Giants picked up...only after we didn't even bother putting him on the PS. What a complete disaster of a pick, considering like many I thought getting a possible 1st rounder in the 3rd was a huge score. Oli Udoh made the team. Yikes.

DL

The stunner here was the release of Armon Watts, who I thought had developed into a pretty solid interior starter (which admittedly matters less in a 3-4 defense). Watts was claimed by Chicago. And we traded for Ross Blacklock from Houston. Janarious Robinson was a somewhat surprising cut, although he made the PS.

LB

Troy Dye survived another year. Chazz Surrat was axed, and later picked up by the Jets. So yes, 3 of the 4 3rd round picks from 2021 are completely gone from the organization. Luigi Vilain, who I had literally never heard of til the preseason, made it.

DB

Harrison Hand was cut prior to final cuts. Josh Metellus stuck as a backup safety.

ST

Ryan Wright beat out Jordan Berry for the punting job before the final preseason game. Presumably Reagor will return punts, with King Kene on kicks again.
