Wild Card Weekend recap

Saturday:

TEXANS 45, BROWNS 14

I picked the Browns to keep their late season hot streak going against the neophyte Texans (who only got here due to a 4th down drop in Indy), but after an early back and forth it was just a buzz saw. CJ Stroud was great, and Joe Flacco crashed back to earth in a major way.

CHIEFS 26, DOLPHINS 7

In the 4th coldest game in NFL history, the Chiefs rode their improved defense to victory. Miami, who at mid-season looked like a bona-fide super bowl contender, went out horribly. You could tell they all had no interest in playing in that weather. It would be interesting if Patrick Mahomes got carried in the playoffs by the defense this time.

Sunday:

PACKERS 48, COWBOYS 32

Vomitous. A Packers team that only made the playoffs because their shitty field killed Kirk Cousins's Achilles, and because they got everything to line up for them in the final weeks, also got to face a notorious playoff choker in the Cowboys, who even by their standards were an embarrassment to the sport of football. Absolutely no defense was played, and a couple big Dak Prescott turnovers had this game.over at halftime. Dallas put up some garbage points to make the final look way closer than it was. FTP!

LIONS 24, RAMS 23

Vomitous. The Lions are still frauds. But the darlings of the NFL skated by in this game because the Rams (who largely moved the ball with ease) had some awful redzone playcalling that turned 7s into 3s. And there was also some horrible officiating that allowed the DIRTY Lions to not only get away with cheap hits on Stafford (shades of the 2009 NFCCG) but also commit a blatant DPI late that wasn't called. So the frauds get their 1st playoff win since 1991, and now also get a 2nd home game. FTL!

Monday:

BILLS 31, STEELERS 17

This game was all Bills early, but to their credit the Steelers did make a comeback and forced the Bills to sweat it out a little bit. Buffalo wins their 6th straight game and now get to host the Chiefs in a major grudge match game next week.

BUCCANEERS 32, EAGLES 9

The Eagles collapse is now complete, with an embarrassing beatdown in Tampa. Their defense was bad, and Jalen Hurts was terrible. He had one play where he ran backwards like 10 yards and got safetied. It's really one of the great in-season implosion in NFL history. Funny btw how Tampa got markedly better once Brady left. GOAT my ass.
