The Twins season is over

Not technically. No they still have 10 games left, and they will be in the playoffs.

But they are done.

Because the sickest cosmic joke in all of sports is about to happen again. Even in this bizarre 60 game season with an 8 team playoff field, the Twins are going to have to play the Yankees in the playoffs.

As if 2020 hasn't been bad enough

The Twins no show against the White Sox in the first 2 games of the biggest series of the season has all but clinched the central for Chicago.

The Twins sit 4 back from Chicago in the loss column. And their sweep of Cleveland last weekend means they are 3 up on them. So the Twins are close to locked into 2nd place.

Over in the east the Yankees have jumped back ahead of Toronto, yet sit 4 back of Tampa. So the Yankees are nearly locked in to 2nd as well.

It wouldn't matter if the Twins or Yankees finish with the better record. Either way that's the first round matchup. Whoever finishes 2nd in the west, likely Houston, is going to be the #6. Only question would be which team gets to host all 3 games (ha, as if the series goes the full 3).

The number of different scenarios that have needed to take place for it to always be the Yankees all these years would be comical if it weren't so sad.

And I swear to god, if I hear ANYONE say this year will be different I'm going to punch them. How many times does Lucy have to yank the football away before people understand?

The playoffs start September 29th. The Twins will be swept out on September 30th.
