Do the Twins even care?
Six straight losses.
A season that even a week ago still looked like a lock playoff season now in total free fall.
This team is fucking done, and what's worse is that nobody seems to even care.
After just one season as the class of the AL Central, the Twins have been lapped by the White Sox. Chicago is better than the Twins in every way.
And yet the Twins led 4-0 tonight. Didn't matter. One team on that field knows how to win games, the other has become expert at losing them.
Lineup still blows btw. They only had 5 runs cause Chicago became clownish in the 2nd and had 3 errors that handed the Twins 2 of their runs.
Pitching imploded tonight. Rich Hill started ok then couldn't even find the plate. My god have our free agent pickups been a disaster. Duffey, Clippard and May all got dinged in varying ways. And Taylor Rogers, well, he did what he now does.
Two plays late struck me in just how much it showed this team is either checked out, lazy, disinterested, or some combination.
Marwin Gonzalez hit a sharp grounder to deep 2nd. The ball was bobbled and as Sano hustled to 2nd....Gonzalez couldn't even be bothered to run the grounder out. Had he run it out, had he hustled, had he given a shit, he easily beats the late throw. They actually got Sano in a batter later, but Gonzalez's laziness may have cost them a chance at a bigger inning. And even if it didn't, run out the fucking ground ball. This is not the only time a Twins hitter has half-assed it in this way this season btw.
And in the 9th, with Rogers on the mound in a tie game, a routine fly ball is lifted towards Kepler, who lazily drops the fucking ball. A few batters later we have had the latest implosion by the POS Rogers and the game is over.
I'm so over this bullshit.
The Twins made no trade deadline moves, which is fine I guess cause the rental options were not enticing. But then they also don't make any moves to get some hitting help from St. Paul. They just sit around waiting for Josh Donaldson, Mitch Garver and Byron Buxton to come back and be saviors. It's such arrogance.
Rocco Baldelli had a 1st year as manager that featured no real adversity. Yeah they had a mini-slump over the summer, but nothing ever approached a crisis. But now this team is dying right in front of us, and Rocco seems oblivious to the problems. It's a bad look to be a smug know-it-all when you are shepherding a team that looks like they are going to become one of the greatest flops in the history of the franchise.
